At one point Robertson’s career looked it was in tatters when he was released by Celtic nearly a decade ago for being too small.But he has staged an extraordinary ascendancy in the game since his call-up to his first club Queen’s Park and is now odds-on to lift the Premier League trophy with Liverpool.Just last week,the Scotland captain committed his future to the club until the end of the 2023/24 season.Former Liverpool boss Sir Kenny Dalglish has lauded Robertson for his influence at Anfield since his arrival. Writing in his Sunday Post column, Dalglish said: “For Andy to be where he was just seven years ago when he was let go by Celtic to where he is now, is a classic example to any young footballer that you should never give up and never stop believing.“Indeed, to young players up and down the UK who are freed every year by the big clubs, Andy is a role model. He has displayed just what can be achieved by hard work, perseverance and dedication.3

“His level of consistency has been reflected in this new deal.
