Former Chelsea winger Damien Duff has held talks with Celtic about joining their coaching staff, according to reports.Duff, 39, currently works in a youth coaching position for Shamrock Rovers in Ireland, but he is one of the contenders to become Celtic Under-20s coach, succeeding Shaun Maloney who left the position to join the Belgium national team set-up a couple of months ago.Duff enjoyed a successful spell with Chelsea1

The Sun claim Duff has already held talks with the Parkhead club about moving to Glasgow, though it is expected he will face stiff competition for the role with a number of applications submitted for the vacancy.Duff is said to know Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers well, as the pair were at Chelsea together.Rodgers was on the Blues’ coaching staff between 2004 and 2008, while Duff played for the Stamford Bridge club from 2003 to 2006. The Republic of Ireland legend, who hung up his boots three years ago having played for his country 100 times, was a key member of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side that won back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004/05 and 2005/06, as well as the 2005 League Cup.He went on to represent Newcastle, Fulham, Melbourne City and Shamrock Rovers after leaving Chelsea, having joined the Blues from first club Blackburn in 2003.
