Kiko Casilla: Leeds United sign goalkeeper from Real Madrid on deal until 2023
Leeds United have signed goalkeeper Kiko Casilla from Real Madrid, the Championship club have confirmed.Casilla, the former Spain international, has penned a four-and-a-half year deal with Marcelo Bielsa’s side, keeping him at Elland Road until the summer of 2023.He becomes Leeds‘ first signing of the January transfer window.

Bought from Real Madrid, Casilla has also represented Espanyol, Cadiz and Cartagena throughout his 15-year career, having started as a professional as part of Los Blancos’ academy.He returned to his boyhood club in 2015 to become the club’s second choice glovesman, winning 10 trophies over the past three-and-a-half years despite making just 43 appearances. Casilla joins Leeds with Marcelo Bielsa’s side top of the Championship table and favourites to win promotion to the Premier League.The Whites are four points ahead of second place Sheffield United and 11 points clear of falling out the play-offs, but doubts have been raised throughout the season about the quality of starting goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.The 22-year-old has made a couple of mistakes this term and Bielsa has moved to sign an upgrade on the Northern Ireland international. There are no guarantees Casilla will immediately replace Peacock-Farrell as Leeds’ No.1, however, and the youngster will hope to add to the 31 appearances he has already made throughout 2018/19.If introduced into Bielsa’s starting line-up straight away, Casilla will make his debut for the Elland Road club on Saturday afternoon with Leeds visiting Stoke hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Championship clubs appoint law firm to challenge EFL over new TV deal
A law firm has been appointed by Championship clubs as they bid to challenge the EFL over a new TV deal signed earlier this week.Despite a number of clubs rebelling against the Sky deal, EFL chiefs went ahead and signed off the 595million contract on Monday.1Leeds, Aston Villa and Derby are reported to be the most outspoken against the deal, and they’ve allegedly threatened to leave the EFL and form a ‘Premier League 2’.Having seen the deal signed despite their objections, talkSPORT told that the Championship rebels were planning legal action against the governing body.And now, according to The Times, the Championship clubs have appointed law firm Slaughter and May to build a case to challenge the validity of the deal. Furthermore, a meeting of all 24 clubs has been called for next week to discuss the options that can be taken against the EFL. The aforementioned Leeds, Villa and Derby, as well as Preston, Nottingham Forest, Stoke and Middlesbrough are believed to have called the meeting.

Sky's new TV deal explained

• The EFL and Sky agreed a five-year deal worth 119million per season, up 31m per season on the exisiting deal.
• Sky are able to broadcast 138 EFL games a season, with a minimum 20 of those being League One and League Two matches.
• In the final two years of the deal, this total rises by 20 to 158 games broadcast every season.
• 16 of those games will be Championship matches on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, and Sky will also get eight additional midweek games as co-exclusives with the clubs streaming services.
• They will also be available to Skys residential customers via its red button service.

The clubs are understood to be unsatisfied with the financial terms of the new deal, which is worth 595million over five years.In the new deal, Championship clubs without parachute payments will be paid 2.9million per season, and there is a belief Sky’s increased red-button coverage will impact on matchday attendances and in-house streaming services.
